Instructions on how to prepare for your surgery.

Please log into our secure patient portal, One Medical Passport, to register online choose "Emerald Coast Surgery Center" and provide:

  • Your current insurance information

  • Your health history

  • An update list of your medications

Our Pre-Admissions Nurse will call you a day or two prior to your surgery to confirm information, provide you with your arrival time, and answer any questions you may have.

Food and Drink
Nothing by mouth after midnight. Special instructions will be given by the pre-admissions nurse the day before surgery.

Alcohol
Do not drink alcohol for at least 12 hours before your arrival.

Smoking
No smoking after midnight the night before your surgery.

Makeup, Nail Polish, Jewelry (including body jewelry)
Please remove all these items before surgery.

Clothing
Wear loose, casual, comfortable clothing to fit over dressings.

Valuables
Please leave valuables at home.

Notify The Center & Your Surgeon If:
• You have an elevated temperature, cough, cold, vomiting or diarrhea between your last visit to the surgeon and the day of your surgery.
• You suspect you may be pregnant.
• You are taking: diet pills, aspirin, ibuprofen, or certain herbal medicines. You may need to stop taking these 1-2 weeks before your surgery. You can discuss this with your surgeon.

Medications
Please have any medications prescribed by your doctor, filled prior to the date of your procedure.

Caregivers
If you are the primary caregiver for a child or household member, please consider making care arrangements for the first 24 hours after your surgery.
